MARRIAGE PRE-REQUISITES

Good morning and welcome to our discussion on the things that must be in place in your life before you consider getting married. These are the land preparations that a good farmer must employ before introducing a viable seed without which the seed will die or not do as well as it should.
1. DISCOVER YOURSELF: you must first of all know who you are in life before you seek to have a partner whose ultimate importance is to be a help to you on your way to becoming who you were created to be. Unless you know who you are, you will not be able to tell exactly what you need, and until the choice you make is what you need, you may end up the rest of your life trying to do away with it having realized you never needed it in the first place. This is a very bitter struggle in life as it almost becomes impossible to put away as soon as you are engaged and as such, it is better for every man and woman to avoid this battle as much as he/she can.
2. DISCOVER YOUR CALLING: The choice and ministry of a life partner in helping a man or woman to fulfill or not to fulfill his/her calling can not be over-emphasized. Unless you discover your calling before you marry, you are likely to get married to one who will take you in opposite direction of your life calling. It is difficult to start preaching a different sermon to your partner after the agreement you reached before you were married. It is difficult for a woman that married a movie star, knowing that to be her dream to suddenly have to cope with your new role as a preacher. Know where you are going in life before asking another to accompany you, not everybody has the patience of roaming around with you on your changing roles and lifestyle.
3. HAVE AN OCCUPATION: you must of a necessity as a future breadwinner to a family have and education, a paying skill and be employed gainfully. Everyday of your life, you must be able to account for an earning that is capable of taking care of you and the family you intend to raise. Without sufficient provisions to take care of the family, love will soon become a burden left to be endured than enjoyed. do not raise a family too big for you to support within your honest means, this is a recipe for disaster and will eventually lead to frustration and depression. You must be earning enough to pay the bills because they are sure to come.
4. BUILD YOUR BUSINESS: you must build your business or career to a reasonable level of security before you undertake certain responsibilities. The more load you take on, the more difficult it will become for you to fly high except you have acquired higher capacity. Do not be in a hurry to get married except that is a stepping stone to your next level in life and you are sure of it; build your business or career first.
5. KNOW THE PERSON YOU WANT TO MARRY: some people say that the 'devil you know is better than an angel that you do not know', but if you know the devil, do not marry him or her, marriage never changes people, it only makes them assume different roles. Do not plan to change a man or a woman after you have married, but if God says such will change, you can go ahead, but only be sure it is the voice of God that you are hearing. Do not marry anybody you do not know, it will be too late to cry foul after you have tied the knot.
6. PREPARE FOR SURPRISES: some people say that love is blind, but marriage will open your eyes. You must brace up for both pleasant and unpleasant surprises the moment you move in to live together. The closer you get to a man or a woman, the more details you discover about him/her. No matter how much you think you know or you have discovered, there are still lots to be discovered when you look more closely. No man or woman is perfect, take them for the good and make do with the ones you cannot change.
7. MARRY YOUR LOVE: you can easily have maids and concubines who attain to you and you can dispose at will, but when it comes to marriage, marry the man or woman you love. If you marry for any other reason outside love, the moment you encounter love, all those reasons and appeals will disappear including beauty and riches, and you will discover that all that matters in marriage is LOVE.

UNDERSTAND WHAT LOVE IS: many people have erroneous impressions of love and have been deceived into making life changing decisions on wrong premises, and as such their lives have been seriously affected negatively. Love is expressed in words but love is not words; love is expressed in giving, but giving is not love; love is pure and love is not sex. Sex outside legal marriage is sin that leads to dead, and anyone that offers you sex in the name of love is offering you a deadly poison capable of killing your body, soul and spirit. Be wise and you will not be deceived!
